 Terms and Conditions for Splittify

Welcome to Splittify. By downloading, installing, or using our mobile application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Splittify, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and possess the legal authority to enter into this agreement. These Terms apply to all users, including those using the App as a "Guest" or via a registered "Account."

2. Description of Service
Splittify is a personal and group expense tracking application. Features include personal ledger management, collaborative "Trip" modules, real-time data synchronization via Firebase, and financial insights.

3. User Accounts and Security
Registration: You may use Google Authentication to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
Guest Mode: If you use the App as a Guest, your data is stored locally on your device. Splittify is not responsible for data loss if you uninstall the App or lose your device while in Guest mode.
Responsibility: You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Data Storage and Privacy
Personal Data: Personal expenses are primarily stored locally. Manual backups are available via the "Cloud Backup" feature, which uses Firebase to store your data securely.
Collaborative Data: Data shared in "Trips" (including expense amounts, names, and split details) is stored on our cloud servers to facilitate real-time synchronization among trip members.
Privacy Policy: Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your information.

5. User Conduct
You agree NOT to use the App to:

Input fraudulent or intentionally misleading financial data.
Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users within collaborative Trips.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disrupt the App’s infrastructure.
Distribute spam or malicious code.

6. Administrative Controls
In collaborative Trips, the "Trip Admin" (the creator) has the authority to:

Add or remove members.
Delete the Trip and all associated data.
Splittify is not liable for data loss or removal initiated by a Trip Admin.

7. Advertisements and In-App Content
Splittify may include advertisements (via Google Mobile Ads).

Guest Limitations: Certain "Elite" features may be locked or limited for Guest users and may be subject to more frequent advertisements.
External Links: The App may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., social media). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these third parties.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Splittify provides the App "as is" and "as available" without any warranties. While we strive for 100% accuracy in our debt calculations and financial insights:

We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Calculations are for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial advice.

9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Splittify and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of financial data, incorrect split calculations, or unauthorized access to your account.

10. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to the App (including logos, branding, source code, and design elements) remain the exclusive property of Splittify. You may not use our branding for any purpose without prior written consent.

11. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or our business interests.

12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
